ABOUT THE ARTISTS
JESSE MCCORMACK
As the harvest is brought in and the nights grow longer, a charismatic figure will be traversing the Australian east coast, bringing with him a deep expertise of various musical traditions. With his clear, bardic voice, deeply imbued sense of rhythm, infectious enthusiasm, and intense devotion to his craft, Tasmanian troubadour Jesse McCormack performs folk songs from England, Sweden, Ireland, Scotland, and the bizarre realm of his imagination. A thoroughly accomplished wandering minstrel, Jesse has sung his heart out for many years on stages all over south-eastern Australia and north-western Europe, making memorable connections with his audiences wherever he goes. His music escorts listeners into a folkloric experience of druidic storytelling, conjuring a sound reminiscent of artists such as Steeleye Span or Loreena McKennitt and vibes of bohemian Achilleanism.
LIZZIE FLYNN & THE RUNAWAY TRAINS
With a combination of lyrical honesty and charming melodies, Lizzie Flynn writes songs that blend a little satirical storytelling with a lot of joyful emotion. With The Runaway Trains they go off the tracks to play folk that all folk can relate to – from country to Celtic and a few other stations in-between
